Editing and Proofreading

When Word Processing programs introduced spell checking features into our homes and offices, it changed the way we communicate. Suddenly even the poorest of spellers among us could write fairly coherent documents with ease, instead of with a dictionary at our side. Yet, as one authority on the matter points out about spell checkers, "Even at their best, they rarely catch all the errors in a text." Often our written word, whether in the form of a resume, proposal or marketing brochure, is our primary or even first form of contact with people who form judgments about us based on how we write. Never would we want something as simple as a spelling or grammatical error to sour their opinion of us.

To help our clients in this regard, JN Software Consulting provides Editing and Proofreading services. JN Software has 2 categories of service.

Proofreading - We make sure your document is correct and consistent by checking spelling, grammar, punctuation, redundancies, and capitalization.

Editing - Feel like your document is missing something? With this service we do more than just cosmetic changes - we work with you to reach your goals. By understanding your objectives and the context of the document, we can give substantive suggestions or conduct rewrites to improve its form, flow and clarity.

JN Software's Editing and Proofreading services are designed to save you money. Instead of charging arbitrary per word rates that have to be padded by the editor to guarantee a profit, we offer a simple hourly rate. You only pay for the work we do, and you'll like the work we do.

TIP OF THE MONTH - APRIL/2008
Editing Pictures in Photoshop (This tip uses version 7, your version may differ slightly)

It can be very easy to create an unwieldy amount of layers, making it hard to move things around and stay organized.

If you don't need to manipulate certain layers independently anymore:

  1. Merge the layer using the Merge Down option in the Layers menu. (This combines the currently selected layer with the one below it in the hierarchy table.
  2. Or

  3. Use the Merge Visible option in the Layers menu. (This combines all layers with the eye-shaped icon currently active)
  4. Now that these layers are one, the items stored on them will move and work together.
